Expensive but worth it
Oh my god, the sounds I heard when I first this were heavenly. Gritty, lo-fi, chaotic, but heavenly. The modulation section only adds to that if you wanna blend some of that it. If I had one pedal to show people the benefits and allure of analog / bbd pedals, this is what I'd show them.
You can't go wrong for $30
Bought this to see if I like the "Tube Screamer" sound without buying new or even used. It sounds pretty good to me. Build quality is good. The looks are a bit cheesy but come on, for $30 buy this and spend an evening repainting it if it bothers you.
It's an aquired taste
I have the 2016 update of this pedal. It's a great sounding fuzz but the sound is a specific fuzz sound. Does the "Satisfaction" sound. Very 60's sounding. While there are only two knobs, the Depth knob can really change the sound.
The greatest reverb pedal?
I got this for a steal at $350 new and shipped from Prymaxe Vintage during their 2016 Black Friday sale. Oh my god, all the reverbs are beautiful. This pedal is never leaving my board and to me, could be a desert island pedal. I also really like that Empress will and is continuing to update the pedal.
It's cliche but classic.
I bought the special Guitar Center colorway since I lost my first one. This was my first pedal and at the time, I thought it was great. After getting familiar with it again, I'd say it isn't bad but it's not great. I mean, it's $50 so I can't complain. It does a good, generic hard rock sound and at the end of the day, while it isn't going to win any awards at NAMM or become coveted by gear snobs, it is what it says it is. DISTORTION. What you see is what you get and for that, I applaud BOSS and Roland. Truth in advertising is hard to come by these days.
Solid fuzz!
This was one of the first few pedals and I love it. It's super affordable as far as pedals go and it sounds nice so overall, it's a great value. Tone knob is a bit bright after 2 o clock. There are many builders who have made "nicer" Muffs, Muffs with more features and Muffs that are more true to older versions but at the end of the day, the EHX NYC Big Muff is a classic and for good reason.
Great Fuzz Face!
I love this pedal. This was one of the first pedals I bought and I made a good choice. It's well built, SolidGold is an awesome company and most importantly, it sounds amazing. The addition of the bias control gives you a ton of extra sounds compared to the original Fuzz Face.
