About
Arc Angels is a blues rock supergroup hailing from Austin, Texas, blending elements of Southern rock and modern blues with a nod to Texas blues traditions. Formed in the wake of the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan's passing, the band features an impressive lineup: Doyle Bramhall II (vocals, guitar), Charlie Sexton (vocals, guitar), Tommy Shannon (bass), and Chris Layton (drums). The group is renowned for their powerful live performances and their self-titled debut album, which captures the raw energy and soulfulness of their collective musical pedigree.
How to Sound Like Arc Angels
Arc Angels’ sound is characterized by a blend of gritty, soulful guitar work and dynamic, blues-infused rhythms. The dual guitar approach from Bramhall and Sexton creates a rich tapestry of tones, with Bramhall often employing the Fender Stratocaster for its bright, cutting sound. The guitars weave through layers of overdrive and fuzz, as seen with Bramhall's use of the King Tone - The Duellist pedal, giving their music a visceral edge. The rhythm section, anchored by Shannon's reliable Fender Precision Bass, provides a steady groove that drives their blues-rock anthems forward with an infectious energy. This amalgamation of textures results in a sound that is both raw and expansive, capturing the essence of Texas blues while pushing its boundaries.
