Storyville is an American blues-rock band that emerged from the vibrant music scene of Austin, Texas. Formed in 1994, the group features a lineup of seasoned musicians, including Malford Milligan (vocals), David Grissom (guitar), David Holt (guitar), Tommy Shannon (bass), and Chris Layton (drums). The band's sound is a blend of blues, blues rock, and Southern rock, drawing from the rich musical backgrounds of its members. Shannon and Layton, former rhythm section of Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble, bring a deep blues authenticity, while Grissom and Holt contribute their rock influences from their tenures with other notable acts.

Storyville's sound is a robust mix of soulful blues and gritty rock, characterized by powerful, emotive vocals and dynamic guitar interplay. The dual-guitar setup of Grissom and Holt is central to their sonic identity, often featuring bluesy licks and intricate solos. Grissom’s use of the PRS McCarty Electric Guitar and Gibson ES-335, paired with amplifiers like the PRS DG 30 and '64 Fender Vibroverb, adds a warm, vintage tone to their music. The rhythm section, powered by Shannon’s solid bass lines and Layton’s tight drumming on a Ludwig Classic Maple kit, provides a driving groove that propels their songs forward, making their performances both energetic and deeply grounded in the blues tradition.
