About
BBM was a short-lived yet impactful blues rock supergroup formed in 1994, bringing together the legendary talents of Jack Bruce (bass, vocals), Ginger Baker (drums), and Gary Moore (guitar, vocals). The trio emerged from a rich legacy of rock history, with Bruce and Baker having previously been core members of Cream, while Moore was celebrated for his fiery guitar work and blues mastery. Their music seamlessly blended elements of blues and rock, showcasing both the harder-rocking blues elements and prog rock tendencies, particularly evident in their sole album, Around the Next Dream.
How to Sound Like BBM
BBM’s sound is characterized by its powerful, raw energy, driven by Gary Moore’s expressive guitar tones. His use of Gibson Les Paul guitars, paired with amplifiers like the Marshall JCM2000, created a rich, overdriven sound that balanced melodic expression with aggressive attack. Moore often incorporated pedals such as the Boss DS-1 Distortion to further enhance his biting lead tones. Jack Bruce’s bass lines provided a robust yet fluid foundation, often using the Fender Bass VI to add depth and complexity. Ginger Baker’s drumming brought a dynamic, jazz-influenced touch, known for its intricate rhythms and compelling drive, which complemented the band's intense yet melodic vibe. Together, these elements crafted a sound that was both nostalgic and fiercely original.
