About

Body Count is a pioneering American band that fuses the raw intensity of metal, hardcore punk, and political hip hop into a potent musical force. Formed in Los Angeles in 1990, the band was conceived by rapper Ice-T (vocals) and his high school friend Ernie C (lead guitar). Over the years, the lineup has included talented musicians like Vincent Price (bass guitar) and Juan Garcia (rhythm guitar), among others. Body Count is renowned for its aggressive sound and provocative lyrics, often addressing societal issues and injustices. Their debut album, released in 1992, included the controversial track "Cop Killer," which brought them both notoriety and acclaim. The band's trailblazing approach has greatly influenced the rap metal and crossover thrash genres.

How to Sound Like Body Count

Body Count’s sound is characterized by an aggressive and powerful sonic landscape that melds the ferocity of metal with the rhythmic potency of hip hop. Their music is driven by heavy, distorted guitar riffs that intertwine with percussive grooves, creating an intense yet groove-laden atmosphere. Ernie C’s use of the Schecter Jeff Loomis JL-6 FR guitar, combined with the robust tone of the EVH 5150 III 100-Watt Tube Head, delivers a searing edge to their sound. With the MXR M169 Carbon Copy providing analog delay effects, their guitar work gains additional depth and texture. The driving bass lines, often delivered through a Schecter Sean Yseult Casket Bass, add to the band's relentless energy. Body Count's music is a relentless assault on the senses, combining raw emotion with technical prowess to create an unmistakably fierce auditory experience.
