About

Bonham is a glam metal and AOR band formed by renowned drummer Jason Bonham in 1988. Hailing from England, the group features Ian Hatton (guitar), John Smithson (keyboards, bass), and Daniel MacMaster (vocals). The band emerged onto the glam metal scene with their debut album, The Disregard of Timekeeping, which achieved gold status. Jason Bonham, the son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, brought his rock heritage into the fold, creating a band that melds powerful drumming with melodic guitar riffs and commanding vocals.

How to Sound Like Bonham

Bonham's sound is characterized by its dynamic and punchy drumming, paired with anthemic guitar riffs and soaring vocals. The band’s music maintains a polished yet energetic vibe, with a blend of glamorous metal tones and melodic rock sensibilities. Jason Bonham’s drumming, utilizing a Ludwig Vistalite kit, is both robust and intricate, driving the band’s sound with a blend of acoustic and electronic elements, such as the Roland SPD-SX Special Edition Sampling Pad. The lush, sweeping keyboard layers and tight basslines from John Smithson complete the soundscape, while Ian Hatton’s guitar work, often characterized by crisp, distorted tones, provides the melodic edge that defines Bonham's compelling musical style.
