About
Black Country Communion is a formidable supergroup known for their powerful blend of blues rock and hard rock. Formed in 2009, the band consists of seasoned musicians: Glenn Hughes (bass, vocals), famed for his work with Deep Purple; Joe Bonamassa (guitar, vocals), a prolific blues-rock guitarist; Jason Bonham (drums), son of Led Zeppelin's legendary drummer John Bonham; and Derek Sherinian (keyboards), former member of Dream Theater. Together, they create a dynamic sound that taps into the raw energy of classic rock while infusing it with modern flair.
How to Sound Like Black Country Communion
The sound of Black Country Communion is characterized by its muscular and assured blend of bluesy hard rock. Expect powerful guitar riffs from Bonamassa, often driven by his use of the Marshall JCM25/50 2555 Silver Jubilee 100W Amp Head, which delivers a crisp yet heavy tone. Hughes' bass playing, sometimes enhanced with the Black Cat Pedals Bass Octave Fuzz, adds a gritty, resonant depth that complements Bonham’s thunderous drumming. Sherinian's use of the Roland Fantom-X7 synthesizer provides a rich sonic layer that enhances the band's robust and electrifying performances. The result is a sound that is both aggressive and richly textured, appealing to fans of both classic and modern rock.
