About
Comsat Angels were a seminal English band from Sheffield, active mainly during the late 1970s through the 1990s. The group comprised Stephen Fellows (vocals, guitar), Mik Glaisher (drums), Andy Peake (keyboards), and Kevin Bacon (bass). Known for their profound impact on the post-punk and new wave genres, their music often delved into moodier, introspective themes. Despite not achieving massive commercial success, they gained a loyal following and are often celebrated for their influential albums such as Waiting for a Miracle and Sleep No More.
How to Sound Like Comsat Angels
Comsat Angels' sound is characterized by its brooding and atmospheric quality, blending sparse instrumentation with a sense of haunting melancholy. Their music often features clean, jangly guitar tones, achieved through instruments like the Fender Stratocaster and Fender Telecaster, which help create their melancholic yet melodic ambiance. The band’s use of space and dynamics, coupled with minimalistic keyboard lines and a solid rhythmic foundation, creates a captivating sonic landscape that feels both expansive and intimate. This combination of elements results in a sound that is both timeless and deeply evocative.
