Emily's Army is an Oakland-based indie rock band formed in 2004, characterized by their energetic pop-punk sound reminiscent of the Bay Area's vibrant punk scene. The group was initially founded by brothers Max Becker (vocals, guitar) and Cole Becker (vocals, guitar), along with their childhood friend Joey Armstrong (drums), son of Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. They were later joined by Travis Neumann (guitar) in 2009 and Seb Mueller (bass). The band was named in honor of the Becker brothers' cousin, Emily, who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Their discography includes albums such as Don't Be a Dick! and Lost at Seventeen, which helped cement their place in the indie rock landscape with their catchy hooks and youthful energy.

Emily's Army's sound is defined by a raw, energetic punk vibe that captures the youthful spirit of early Green Day and other Bay Area punk legends. Their music often features bright, jangly guitar tones created through instruments like the Fender Stratocaster and the Epiphone SG Special, paired with the gritty edge of a Marshall JCM800 2210 amp. The band's sound is further colored by the use of effects such as the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver to add a touch of overdrive, enhancing their melodic yet punchy style. Their rhythm section maintains a driving, straightforward beat that complements the band's catchy, anthemic choruses, resulting in an engaging and spirited live performance.
