Max bought this in Hamburg, Germany in April 2017 and it has been in his tour lineup ever since then. He named it "Sun King".
Max used to use this mustang when SWMRS was known as Swimmers

We played through the middle pickup (very uncommon) on the white strat and plugged it into a Boss Br-600 digital recorder. Martin, the engineer of the record, had a BR-600 laying around and was talking about how Tame Impala uses it with guitar and bass, so we decided to experiment! The amp we used was a Milkman 20W Sideman paired with a 80’s Roland amp that used to belong to Jerry Finn.
The picks can be seen taped to his mic stand at their performance on the third day of BottleRock Napa Valley 2017.
Max as pictured on the right is playing a 1959 Fender Bassman 4x10 Amplifier, most likely a reissue.

Max briefly used this bass at the end of the Emily's Army era before he gave up bass for guitar. He played it in a few lives shows and it features in some of their photo shoots.
