Gorefest is a Dutch metal band that emerged as a formidable force in the death metal scene, recognized for their blend of death metal, groove metal, and grindcore. Formed in 1989 by Jan-Chris De Koeyer (vocals, bass) and Frank Harthoorn (guitar), the band underwent several lineup changes before solidifying with Ed Warby (drums) and Boudewijn Bonebakker (guitar). Gorefest's music is characterized by a powerful groove-based sound, which earned them comparisons to acts like Entombed and Sepultura. Albums such as False, Erase, and Soul Survivor showcase their evolution from raw death metal to incorporating elements of classic rock and groove metal.
