About
Hail of Bullets is a Dutch death metal band formed in 2006 in Amersfoort, Holland. The group emerged from a collaboration of seasoned musicians, including Martin van Drunen (vocals), known for his work with Pestilence and Asphyx, Theo van Eekelen (bass) from Houwitser, Ed Warby (drums) of Gorefest fame, and Paul Baayens and Stephan Gebédi (guitars) from Thanatos. Their music is rooted in the genres of death metal and grindcore, and they are celebrated for their powerful, war-themed narratives and old-school death metal sound.
How to Sound Like Hail of Bullets
Hail of Bullets crafts a raw and aggressive sonic landscape, characterized by thunderous riffs and relentless drumming. Their sound is decidedly heavy, with gritty, down-tuned guitar work that evokes the bleak atmospheres of their wartime themes. To achieve this crushing tone, the band employs high-gain amplifiers and distortion effects, often using gear akin to ESP guitars for their robust, abrasive edge. The vocals are gritty and forceful, complementing the dense layers of sound, while the rhythm section drives the intensity with precision and power. This combination of elements creates an immersive, battlefield-like experience that is both intense and captivating.
