Their music spans various subgenres including death metal, technical death metal, and grindcore, with landmark releases like The Erosion of Sanity and Obscura solidifying their place in the metal pantheon.
How to Sound Like Gorguts
Gorguts' sound is characterized by its complex, dissonant textures and intricate rhythms, creating a challenging yet intriguing listening experience. Their music often combines aggressive, distorted guitar tones with unconventional song structures that push the boundaries of traditional metal. Luc Lemay's use of the Ibanez S series 7 string adds depth and range to their compositions, while the Ampeg VH-140C amp head delivers a powerful, cutting tone essential for their intense sound. The bass lines, often played on a Dominic “Forest” Lapointe 6-String Bass, contribute to the band's heavy, resonant foundation, further enhanced by the Darkglass Electronics Super Symmetry Bass Compressor for added clarity and punch. Gorguts' music thrives on a blend of technical proficiency and experimental ambition, appealing to listeners who appreciate complexity and innovation in metal.
