About
Voivod is a pioneering Canadian metal band formed in 1982 in Jonquière, Quebec. Known for their innovative fusion of progressive, thrash, and alternative metal, the group has consistently pushed the boundaries of heavy music. The original lineup included Denis "Piggy" D'Amour (guitar), Michel "Away" Langevin (drums), Denis "Snake" Bélanger (vocals), and Jean-Yves "Blacky" Thériault (bass). Over the years, Voivod's lineup has evolved, seeing contributions from notable musicians like Jason Newsted (bass), formerly of Metallica. Their music is deeply rooted in elements of cyberpunk and dystopian themes, creating a unique blend of dissonant prog, hard rock, and metal.
