About
Zyklon is a Norwegian extreme metal band characterized by their aggressive fusion of death metal, black metal, and industrial influences. Emerging from the shadow of black metal legends Emperor, Zyklon was formed in 1998 by guitarist/bassist Tomas Thormodsæter Haugen (Samoth). The lineup solidified in 2000 with Trym Torson on drums, Destructhor (Thor Anders Myhren) handling lead guitar and bass, and Daemon (Vidar Jensen) on vocals. Their music diverges from the atmospheric depth of Emperor, opting instead for a more direct and hard-edged sound that reflects the modern and brutal aspects of the genre.
How to Sound Like Zyklon
Zyklon's sound is marked by its precise, high-intensity riffing and relentless rhythmic assault, delivering a sonic experience that is both crushing and intricate. The use of B.C. Rich Ironbird and Jackson RR 1 guitars contributes to their sharp, cutting tones, while the Peavey 6505+ 120-Watt Tube Guitar Amp Head provides the saturated, aggressive distortion that defines their sound. Drumming, enhanced by Czarcie Kopyto Bass Drum Pedals, is both thunderous and precise, underpinning the band’s complex compositions with power and precision. For those looking to channel Zyklon’s sound, focus on achieving a dense, yet articulate tone that balances raw aggression with technical prowess.
