About
Hooded Menace is a Finnish metal band hailing from Joensuu, renowned for their immersive blend of doom, death-doom, and sludge metal. The group was formed in 2007 by Lasse Pyykkö, who handles lead and rhythm guitar duties and occasionally plays bass. The lineup is completed by Harri Kuokkanen on vocals, Teemu Hannonen on rhythm guitar, and Pekka Koskelo on drums. Hooded Menace draws heavy inspiration from the likes of Candlemass and Cathedral, crafting a soundscape steeped in the macabre allure of classic horror films. Over the years, the band has solidified their place in the metal world with albums like Fulfill the Curse and Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed, blending haunting melodies with crushing riffs.
How to Sound Like Hooded Menace
Hooded Menace's sonic character is defined by its dense, monolithic riffs and atmospheric, menacing undertones. Their music is a tapestry of deep, growling guitar tones and ominous, droning rhythms, creating a sound that's both aggressive and atmospheric. Central to their crushing sound is the use of gear like the Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal pedal, which imbues their riffs with a distinctive, chainsaw-like distortion. The Marshall JVM Series JVM205H amplifier head provides the powerful, saturated tones necessary to drive their intense compositions. Coupled with the Charvel Model 2 guitar, Hooded Menace achieves a sound that's both foreboding and richly textured, inviting listeners into a darkly captivating auditory experience.
