Description

Introducing the Marshall JVM Series JVM205H, a 50-watt all-tube amplifier head that takes you on an auditory journey from a gentle whisper to a thunderous roar. With its two fully independent channels, this amplifier can fill your music with a wide range of tones, from a crisp clean to a molten roar.

Each channel on this amplifier head comes with three footswitchable modes - green, orange, and red, each offering different voicings and levels of overdrive. This flexibility allows you to conveniently dial in tones, ranging from pristine clean to super-saturated, harmonic-drenched, and sustain-for-days distorted.

The JVM205H is not just about variety; it's also about control. The included programmable footswitch unit provides ultra-flexible onstage switching, making it ideal for both stage and studio use. Two effects loops, independent reverb for each channel, a speaker-emulated XLR line-out, and two footswitchable master volumes further enhance the versatility of this amplifier head.

Key Features:

The Rock House Blog: Gear Reviews: The Marshall JVM 205H, 210H, 410H, and Combos

rockhousemethod.blogspot.com

The Marshall JVM205H is a versatile powerhouse, offering 6 to 12 distinct sounds, relying on tube saturation rather than diode clipping for rich overdrive. Its standout feature is its loud, authentic Marshall tone that negates the need for distortion pedals. However, it's not plug-and-play; users must navigate a complex setup, including a pedal programming process. High gain channels can produce noticeable hiss, and switching channels introduces a brief delay to prevent popping. Despite some reliability concerns and a hefty price, its expansive tonal palette and true Marshall sound make it a worthy investment for those seeking authentic high-gain performance.

You can crank them and you can get a lot of gain out of them. Because they are using in-ears, they don't have to be super loud on stage."

Not at all (laughs). The thing is, I’m very conservative and traditional. I’ve played the one guitar I always wanted to play, let’s put it like that. I’ve done the Gibson Les Paul customs for many years now and I play them through a Marshall amp, which I think is the most classic and the best-sounding combination you can get. But then again, new gear is coming up. We’ve also used the Kemper amps a little bit for practical reasons and also when the regular amps break down, which they do. The Kemper amp is a really good solution and substitute for it. But like I said, I’m very conservative. All I really want to have is a Gibson, a wah and a Marshall. - See more at: http://metalassault.com/Interviews/2014/12/16/in-flames-guitarist-bjorn-gelotte-talks-touring-gear-more/#sthash.9eHhRyYV.dpuf

"I currently use a JVM 205 head and a Marshall 1960A cab. Pedal-wise I keep it real simple. I stack a Maxon Tube Screamer and a Hot Cake pedal for drive and more drive, then I use a Boss Chorus Ensemble for a little bit of colour and a Boss NS-2 noise suppressor to stop everything humming loads. And a Korg tuner of course. In the studio, we tended to use amp distortion rather than pedals, so for cleans we had a Fender Bassman and then for drives we stacked some Dual Rectifiers with the Marshall with the gain whacked right up. The main amp we used though was a Bogner (I forget which model), but that sounded great."
