Marine Girls were an influential English post-punk and jangle pop band originating from Hatfield, Hertfordshire in 1980. The group was initially formed by schoolmates Tracey Thorn (vocals, guitar), Gina Fox (vocals), and Jane Fox (bass). However, after Gina's departure, Alice Fox stepped in to handle vocals alongside Thorn. Known for their minimalist and melodic approach, the Marine Girls crafted a sound that resonated with the DIY ethos of the era. They released two albums, Beach Party and Lazy Ways, which showcased their unique blend of sparse instrumentation and ethereal melodies.
