Matching Mole Members, Gear & Sound

Matching Mole is a distinctive ensemble emerging from the vibrant Canterbury scene of the early 1970s, characterized by their experimental blend of art rock, progressive rock, and symphonic rock. The group was founded by Robert Wyatt, previously of Soft Machine, who played drums and contributed vocals. The original lineup also featured Phil Miller on guitar, Dave Sinclair on keyboards, and Bill MacCormick on bass. Following Sinclair's departure, David MacRae joined on keyboards. Matching Mole was notable for its improvisational prowess, and although short-lived, the band left a marked influence on the experimental rock genre.
