MC5 is an influential American rock band formed in 1964 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. The group originally consisted of Rob Tyner (vocals), Fred "Sonic" Smith (guitar), Wayne Kramer (guitar), Pat Burrows (bass), and Bob Gaspar (drums). Known for their explosive live performances and revolutionary political messages, MC5 pioneered a raw and powerful sound that bridged the gap between garage rock, psychedelic rock, and protopunk. Their music laid the groundwork for the punk rock movement, and they are celebrated for their uncompromising intensity and rebellious spirit.
