About
Mest is an American band hailing from the south side of Chicago, known for their dynamic fusion of alternative rock, punk rock, pop punk, ska punk, and skate punk. The group initially formed with Tony Lovato (vocals, guitar) and his cousin Matt Lovato (bass), who grew up playing music together. They were joined by Jeremiah Rangel (guitar) and Nick Gigler (drums), solidifying their lineup in high school. Mest quickly gained a following in the local punk scene and eventually caught the attention of major labels, leading to their debut with Maverick Records. Their high-energy tracks and catchy hooks have made them staples in the punk rock genre.
How to Sound Like Mest
The sound of Mest is energetic and raw, characterized by driving guitar riffs and catchy, anthemic choruses. Their music balances aggressive punk energy with melodic elements, creating a sound that's both hard-hitting and accessible. Tony Lovato's use of Gibson Les Paul Goldtop and Gibson SG Special electric guitars provides a thick, punchy tone that's perfect for their power-chord-driven style. The guitars are often paired with crisp, dynamic drumming that propels their tracks forward. To capture Mest's sound, one might focus on achieving a gritty yet melodic guitar tone using classic punk rock setups, often incorporating the occasional multi-effects pedal like the Line 6 M5 Stompbox Modeler for added versatility. Their music thrives on a balance of melody and intensity, making it both engaging and memorable.
