Orange Juice is a pioneering Scottish band that emerged from Glasgow's vibrant music scene in the late 1970s. Originally formed as the Nu-Sonics, the group quickly evolved into a key player in the burgeoning post-punk and indie pop movements. The lineup featured Edwyn Collins (vocals, guitar), James Kirk (guitar), David McClymont (bass), and Steven Daly (drums). Known for their jangly guitar sounds and melodic sensibilities, Orange Juice blended elements of New Wave, Indie pop, Post-punk, and Jangle pop into a distinctively catchy and romantic musical style. Their influence was cemented with their critically acclaimed debut single "Falling and Laughing" and the album You Can't Hide Your Love Forever.

Orange Juice's sound is characterized by its bright, jangly guitars and a lively yet smooth rhythm section, creating an uplifting yet introspective atmosphere. The use of a Fender Stratocaster by Edwyn Collins contributed to the band's crisp, chiming tones, while the Fender Mustang Bass provided a punchy, melodic bass line that danced around the guitar riffs. The inclusion of fuzz effects, like the Colorsound Tonebender, added a gritty edge to their otherwise clean and melodic sound. Drums and percussion, occasionally enhanced by electronic elements such as the Roland TR-606 Drumatix, provided a dynamic backdrop that balanced the melodic intricacies with rhythmic drive.
