XTC is an influential English rock band that emerged from the vibrant punk and new wave scene of the late 1970s. Originating from Swindon, Wiltshire, the group initially consisted of Andy Partridge (vocals, guitar), Colin Moulding (bass, vocals), and Terry Chambers (drums), with Barry Andrews (keyboards) joining briefly before being replaced by Dave Gregory (guitar). Known for their clever, hook-filled songwriting and versatile style, XTC incorporated a variety of genres into their music, including new wave, pop rock, art rock, and post-punk. Despite not achieving mainstream success in the UK and the US, they cultivated a loyal cult following with albums like Drums and Wires and Skylarking.
