About
Ostrogoth is a pioneering Belgian heavy metal band that emerged from the vibrant European metal scene of the early 1980s. Drawing inspiration from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, their sound is a fusion of speed metal and traditional heavy metal, characterized by powerful riffs and melodic solos. The classic lineup features Marc De Brouwer (vocals), Rudy Vercruysse (guitar), Hans Van de Kerkhove (guitar), Marnix Van de Kauter (bass), and Mario Pauwels (drums). Over the years, Ostrogoth has undergone several lineup changes, but they remain a respected name in the genre, known for their early releases like the Full Moon's Eyes EP and albums such as Ecstasy and Danger.
How to Sound Like Ostrogoth
Ostrogoth's sound is driven by high-energy, melodic guitar work and a tight, rhythmic backbone. The band's music often features soaring, harmonized guitar leads and galloping rhythms that are both aggressive and intricately melodic. Rudy Vercruysse's use of a Gibson Korina Flying V Electric Guitar delivers a rich, cutting tone that's further amplified by the powerful crunch of a Marshall JMP 2203 Mk II Master Lead 100w. This combination provides the quintessential metal sound with a blend of raw power and clarity. Ostrogoth's music captures the essence of classic metal with its dynamic, fast-paced energy and anthemic choruses, making their sound both timeless and influential in the heavy metal genre.
