Formed in Munich in 1969, the band was led by Florian Fricke (keyboards), who was deeply interested in Mayan mythology and spirituality. Initially, Popol Vuh included members Frank Fiedler (synthesizers) and Holger Trulzsch (percussion). Throughout its evolution, the group also featured musicians like Daniel Fichelscher (guitar, drums) and Djong Yun (vocals).
