About

Republica is an English electronic rock band that emerged in the mid-1990s, blending elements of alternative rock, techno, and dance-punk. The group was formed by vocalist Saffron, who previously collaborated with acts like N-Joi and the Shamen, alongside keyboardists Tim Dorney and Andy Todd. They later added guitarist Johnny Male and drummer Dave Barborossa to complete the lineup. Known for their energetic and anthemic sound, Republica made a significant impact with hits like "Ready to Go," which resonated both in the UK and internationally.

How to Sound Like Republica

Republica's music is characterized by its vibrant, synth-driven energy and a blend of punchy guitar riffs and dynamic electronic elements. Their sound straddles the line between aggressive rock and infectious dance rhythms, creating a compelling mix of melody and beat. The interplay of analog synthesizers, such as the Roland SH-101 and Teisco SX-400, with guitar lines adds depth and texture, enhancing the band’s distinctive sound. The use of sequencers like the Doepfer Dark Time brings a rhythmic, pulsating drive that propels their tracks forward, making Republica's music both danceable and rebellious.
