About

Slaves on Dope is a Canadian metal band hailing from Montreal, known for their intense fusion of alternative metal, industrial metal, rap metal, rap rock, and nu metal. Formed in 1994, the group comprises Jason Rockman (vocals), Kevin Jardine (guitar), Frank Salvaggio (bass), and Rob Urbani (drums). They gained early attention with their independent demo Klepto and moved to Los Angeles to further their career, eventually signing with Ozzy Osbourne's Divine Recordings. Their debut album Inches From the Mainline solidified their place in the heavy metal landscape, earning them gigs with bands like Papa Roach and System of a Down.

How to Sound Like Slaves on Dope

Slaves on Dope's sound is robust and aggressive, characterized by heavy, distorted guitar riffs and dynamic, percussive rhythms. Their music often incorporates rap-infused vocal delivery, adding a unique edge to their metal foundation. Achieving their sound involves using high-gain amplifiers to produce a thick, saturated tone, while effects like digital delay and chorus can create the layered textures found in their industrial influences. The bass provides a gritty underpinning, often matching the guitar's intensity, while the drums deliver powerful, syncopated beats that drive their energetic performances. Capturing their vibe requires balancing the raw power of metal with the rhythmic intricacies of rap and rock elements.
