About
Split Lip Rayfield is a dynamic quartet hailing from Kansas, renowned for their energetic fusion of bluegrass, alternative country, and Americana. Formed in 1995, the band consists of Eric Mardis (banjo, vocals), Wayne Gottstine (mandolin, vocals), Jeff Eaton (one-string bass, vocals), and Kirk Rundstrom (guitar, dobro, vocals, until his passing in 2007). Their music is characterized by a punk-inspired intensity and features unique acoustic instrumentation, most notably Eaton's homemade one-string bass, the Stitchgiver, crafted from a gas tank. Split Lip Rayfield's discography, which began with their 1998 self-titled debut, showcases their ability to blend traditional roots with a modern edge.
