About
The Head Cat is a rockabilly supergroup that brings together the legendary talents of Lemmy Kilmister (bass, vocals) of Motörhead fame, Slim Jim Phantom (drums) from the Stray Cats, and Danny B. Harvey (guitar), notable for his work with The Rockats. Formed in 1999, this power trio delivers a high-energy mix of rockabilly, pub rock, and psychobilly, creating a sound that pays homage to the raw, unrefined roots of rock 'n' roll. Their repertoire includes both original compositions and spirited covers of classic rock 'n' roll tracks, showcasing their commitment to the genre's timeless appeal.
How to Sound Like The Head Cat
The Head Cat's sound is characterized by a raw, energetic blend of rockabilly and punk rock attitude. Lemmy's bass work, often played on a Rickenbacker 4001 through a Marshall 1992 Lemmy Kilmister Signature Head, delivers a gritty and driving low-end that complements the band's retro rock 'n' roll vibe. Danny B. Harvey's guitar work, utilizing instruments like the Gibson Les Paul Standard, adds a layer of twang and bite, often punctuated by fast-paced, bluesy riffs that evoke the spirit of 1950s rockabilly. Slim Jim Phantom's drumming keeps the rhythm tight and propulsive, infusing each track with the infectious energy characteristic of classic rock 'n' roll. Together, their sound is both nostalgic and invigorating, capturing the essence of a bygone era while infusing it with a modern edge.
