About

Trigger Hippy is an American musical group born out of a rich tapestry of genres, including roots rock, Southern rock, Americana, and modern blues. The band was co-founded by Steve Gorman (drummer, formerly of The Black Crowes) and Nick Govrik (bassist and songwriter). Their lineup is completed by Ed Jurdi (multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, known for his work with The Band Of Heathens) and Amber Woodhouse (vocalist and saxophonist). Trigger Hippy stands out for its seamless blend of country, Delta blues, R&B, and gospel influences, delivering a sound that resonates with both traditional and contemporary rock enthusiasts.

How to Sound Like Trigger Hippy

Trigger Hippy's sound is characterized by its dynamic blend of gritty, soulful melodies and engaging rhythmic grooves. Their music often features a warm and organic guitar tone, which is crafted using classic gear like the 1960 Fender Stratocaster - Sunburst and the Matchless Prototype HC30 amplifier, providing a vintage yet powerful presence. The band’s use of effects, such as the Strymon Brigadier dBucket Delay, adds an expansive ambiance that complements their soulful vocal harmonies and tight, rhythmic section. The groove-oriented bass lines and dynamic drumming lay down a solid foundation, while the saxophone adds a unique texture, creating a sound that is both raw and polished. Musicians aiming to emulate Trigger Hippy's style should focus on achieving a balance of authentic bluesy warmth and rhythmic precision.
