About

Triptykon is a Swiss metal band known for their avant-garde approach to extreme music, blending elements of doom, gothic, black, and death metal. Formed by Tom Gabriel Fischer (aka Tom Gabriel Warrior) in 2008 after the disbandment of his previous project Celtic Frost, Triptykon serves as a continuation of his musical vision. The lineup features V. Santura (guitar, vocals), Vanja Slajh (bass), and Norman Lonhard (drums). The band debuted with the critically acclaimed album Eparistera Daimones, which showcased their dense, dark, and experimental soundscapes.

How to Sound Like Triptykon

Triptykon's sound is characterized by its heavy, textured, and dissonant qualities, creating an atmosphere of tension and darkness. The use of detuned, distorted guitars and layered effects delivers a sound that is both crushing and expansive. Tom Gabriel Fischer's preference for guitars like the Ibanez Iceman and Gibson Flying V contributes to the raw and aggressive tone. The incorporation of the Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer adds a gritty edge to the riffs, while the Marshall JCM800 2203 amplifier ensures a powerful, resonant output. This combination of equipment helps to achieve their complex yet hauntingly melodic sound, integral to their unique place in the metal genre.
