Shriekback is a distinctive English band that emerged in the early 1980s, blending elements of new wave and post-punk to create a sound that's uniquely their own. The group originated from a collaboration of seasoned musicians: Dave Allen (bass), formerly of Gang of Four; Barry Andrews (keyboards, vocals), an ex-member of XTC; and Carl Marsh (vocals, guitar), who had played with Out on Blue Six. Known for their innovative use of synthesizers, drum machines, and a bass-driven sound, Shriekback's music is as much about the cerebral as it is about the visceral, creating an immersive auditory experience that blurs the line between human and machine.
