Anderson Guitarworks is an American electric guitar and pickup manufacturer based in Newbury Park, California, founded by Tom Anderson in 1984. Anderson previously worked at Schecter Guitar Research starting in 1977, and left to start his own company after Schecter changed hands. The shop produces roughly 1,200 instruments a year and is known for consistent build quality, playability, and its proprietary V-Quiet noiseless pickup system and V2 Booster circuit.
The lineup centers on a handful of body shapes with many configurable variations: the S (Stratocaster-inspired), T (Telecaster-inspired), Angel and Angel 7 (24-fret Superstrat designs), the long-scale Baritom baritone, plus the Bobcat, Cobra, Crowdster acoustic-electric, Raven, and Wolf. The Drop Top and Drop Top Classic, introduced in 1990 with a figured veneer top, helped establish the brand's reputation, and the hollow-chamber option was added in 1994. The Atom model was included in Guitarist magazine's list of "50 guitars to play before you die."
The company operates on a semi-custom model, with a "Build Your Guitar" configurator covering tonewoods, necks, pickups, and finishes, sold primarily through an authorized dealer network. Players associated with the brand include Brad Whitford of Aerosmith and Vivian Campbell of Def Leppard, among others in the session and touring world.
