CMATMods is a boutique guitar effects pedal company founded by Chad Matthews in Tennessee. Matthews began tinkering with effects as a teenager out of necessity — he couldn't afford to buy pedals, so he started building his own. By the time he was 21, what had been a hobby turned into a full-time business, especially after he began working with pedal builder Greg Blessing. A working musician himself, Matthews has stated that he never sells a production pedal he hasn't gigged with, and his designs reflect a commitment to affordability for players who can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on a single effect.

The Signa Drive, based around the RC4558P chip, is a medium-gain overdrive in the Tube Screamer lineage known for its touch sensitivity and harmonic richness. The Brownie delivers crunchier, higher-gain distortion based on a BSIAB (Brown Sound in a Box) circuit, while the Butah occupies the low-gain overdrive space alongside pedals like the Timmy and Morning Glory.
