Van Mccann

Ryan 'Van' McCann of Catfish and the Bottlemen's custom American Standard Telecaster. During the performance of Cocoon at Glastonbury, the High E string broke, causing Van to throw the guitar across the stage at the end of the song.

"I use a tiny little Marshall Class 5. It's got volume, mid, treble and bass on it and it's about the size of a pack of cigarettes. It's the simplest thing in the world.

"I go up to it and I go, 'Alright Marshall,' and he goes, 'Alright Van. What're we doing today, same old shit?' And I go, 'Yeah mate, nothing too much.' My setup is the Yorkshire Tea of guitars."

OBVIOUSLY this being Van McCann, he's using the charcoal transparent model of this guitar, not the honeyburst. Van using a guitar that's not black? Don't be f*cking stupid, even he knows once you go black you never go back. But anyway, during this set at Glastonbury 2015, one of the strings on his customised American Standard Telecaster (which, yet again, is all black - and a Telecaster...) decided to be a right twat and snap during the performance of 'Cocoon'. So for the next and final song of the set 'Tyrants', Van uses, which is evidently his back up, a Fender Modern Player Plus Telecaster in charcoal transparent. How is it evident that he is in fact using this guitar and not another customised one? Well, the humbucker at the bridge matched with two single coil pickups are both immediately notable. The lacquered, maple neck is another feature I noticed. The classical tuning machines and gold 'Fender' font on the headstock are yet again seen on the Modern Player Plus which are also on this guitar. Sadly I can't find any quotes of him saying that he uses this guitar, but it matches up perfectly. Anyway, if you watch between 3:13 and 3:16 in the video, you can notice all the features for yourself - despite the low quality.

In the photo from Twimg, Van McCann's pedalboard features the CMATMODS Signa Drive, indicating its use in his setup.

Started using this on their 2017 tour. Still uses this as his main vocal mic

The Taylor 600-series can clearly be seen in the video, it's hard to distinguish between the 614ce and the 612ce but my guess due to the larger body size is the 614ce.

In this session with Jim Eno for Spotify Live Sessions, Van is pictured playing a White Gibson SG Custom. Unsure on the year of the guitar. The music from this session can be accessed from the link provided or just by viewing their discography on Spotify and it is listed with their singles as ‘Spotify Sessions’. Unsure whether it is his guitar as he is known for only playing telecasters.
