D.A.S. Audio is a Spanish manufacturer of professional loudspeaker systems, power amplification, and signal processing equipment, headquartered in Valencia. The company was founded in 1971 by industrial engineer Juan Alberola, who began designing his own cabinets after finding imported loudspeakers too costly for the nightclub and bar sound systems he was installing. The name originated as an acronym for Dynamic and Sound before being shortened to D.A.S.
The company is known for live sound reinforcement and fixed-installation products, ranging from point-source and line-array systems to subwoofers, powered speakers, and portable PA cabinets. Its DS-15 is often cited as the first injection-molded 15-inch loudspeaker manufactured in Europe, and product lines such as the Aero line arrays, Action series, Altea, and Event series have been used in touring, houses of worship, stadiums, and commercial venues.
D.A.S. Audio expanded internationally beginning in the late 1970s, debuting at Prolight + Sound / Musikmesse in Frankfurt in 1979, and later establishing D.A.S. Audio of America in 1996. Its systems are distributed in more than 30 countries, with regional subsidiaries including operations in Germany, the United States, and Asia.
