Electrodyne is an American professional audio brand whose origins trace to the late 1940s, when it began producing tube-based preamps, line amps, equalizers and audio amplifiers for the film and broadcast industries. By the 1960s the company had moved to solid-state designs and pioneered the modern recording console — it is widely credited as the first manufacturer to combine the mic preamp, line amp, controller, equalizer and routing into a single integrated channel strip, and the first to offer a modular console as a configurable standard product. Electrodyne consoles, including the ACC-1204, were installed at major facilities such as Warner Bros., Capitol, Decca, Motown, Stax, 20th Century Fox and Universal during the so-called golden era of analog recording.

After the original company wound down in the mid-1970s, the Electrodyne name was revived through a collaboration between Ken Hirsh's Orphan Audio and Pete's Place Audio (with manufacturing handled by A-Designs), reissuing classic circuits in modern formats. The catalog centers on 500-series modules — the 501 discrete two-stage transformer-coupled microphone preamp and the 511 two-band inductor-based EQ — alongside larger pieces like the Audio Summing Station, which adapts 1970s console summing topology to DAW-based workflows.

The brand occupies a boutique niche aimed at engineers seeking the warm, transformer- and inductor-driven character of late-1960s and early-1970s American console sound, with custom transformers and inductors built to original factory tolerances. Its products are sold through pro-audio specialists such as Vintage King, Sweetwater and Front End Audio.
