Originally based in Dodge City, Kansas, the company was acquired by D'Addario & Company in 1995 and production moved to Farmingdale, New York, where it remains one of the three major drumhead manufacturers alongside Remo and Aquarian.
Evans produces heads for snare drums, toms, bass drums, marching percussion, concert percussion, and world percussion instruments including congas, bongos, and timbales. The brand's key innovations include Level 360 Technology, which ensures the drumhead sits perfectly level around the bearing edge for improved tuning and tonal range; the EMAD (Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping) bass drum head system; UV2 coated heads with ultraviolet-cured coating for enhanced durability; and the dB One low-volume mesh heads for quiet practice. Evans also offers the Sensory Percussion system, a hybrid electronic-acoustic integration platform.
