In this post Matt announces that he has become a pearl artist. He states that he is using a music city custom reference kit. He has a 13 rack, 16 and 18 floor, and a 22 kick. He used this kit to record periphery 4. Matt switched to pearl after being a long time mapex artist. He did so because he felt change was needed after people he worked closely with at mapex either passed away, or left mapex.

In this video for Meinl, Matt Talks about and demos is Meinl Artist Concept stack. This stack is modled after the stack that he had been using for years, well before joing Periphery. This stack is the combination of a 18 inch china, and a 17 inch crash. on both the china and the crash one side is Lathed while the other side is hammered. The cymbals are finished this way to get different tones out of the cymbals depending on they way the stack is configured on a cymbal stand
