Giardinelli is an American brand of brass mouthpieces, woodwind reeds, and instrument care accessories with roots in a New York City repair shop opened by Robert Antonio Giardinelli in 1946. A Sicilian immigrant who apprenticed under his father, Giardinelli began modifying mouthpieces for visiting brass players, and around 1950 started manufacturing his own designs. The shop grew into a combined manufactory, custom repair bench, and retail store that became a regular stop for jazz and orchestral brass players passing through Manhattan, including Louis Armstrong and Maynard Ferguson. Among the company's design contributions was the screw-rim mouthpiece, which allowed players to swap rim profiles onto a common cup and shank.
The line spans trumpet, French horn, trombone, and tuba mouthpieces, along with clarinet and saxophone reeds, valve oils, slide greases, cleaning kits, and other maintenance products. Mouthpieces are machine-cut and finished with silver plating, and the catalog includes both classical and jazz-oriented cup and rim shapes. The brand has also offered student-level brass and woodwind instruments.
After Robert Giardinelli retired, the name and product rights were acquired by the Music & Arts retail chain, and the Giardinelli catalog is distributed primarily through Music & Arts, Musician's Friend, and Guitar Center rather than through a standalone storefront.
Giardinelli has 6 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Alto Saxophones, Clarinets, and Tenor Saxophones.
