Founded in New York City by Dave Fraser and Neil Goldberg — who first met at Berklee College of Music in 1989 — Heavyocity grew out of Heavy Melody Music, a production music company the pair launched in 2003 with composer and sound designer Ari Winters. In 2006, the team shifted focus to developing virtual instruments, releasing their debut library EVOLVE to critical acclaim, including Electronic Musician Magazine's Editor's Choice and MusicTech Magazine's Choice Award.

Heavyocity specializes in cinematic virtual instruments and sound design tools built for the Native Instruments Kontakt platform. Their catalog spans orchestral libraries like NOVO: Modern Strings, FORZO: Modern Brass, and VENTO: Modern Woodwinds; cinematic percussion engines such as DAMAGE and DAMAGE 2; deep textural instruments like GRAVITY and GRAVITY 2; hybrid sound design tools including Convergence and Mosaic series products; and vocal libraries like Vocalise and Sonara. The company also produces effect plugins such as PUNISH and VAST.

Heavyocity's instruments are widely used by film, television, and game composers. The founding team's own production work includes audio for clients such as Paramount, Universal, Electronic Arts, the NFL, and Discovery Channel. Notable composers in Heavyocity's artist roster include Academy Award-nominated Patrick Doyle, prolific TV scorer Danny Lux, and film composer Harry Gregson-Williams.

Heavyocity has 88 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Kontakt Instrument, Reaktor Ensemble, and Instrument Bundles. Their gear is featured by 33 artists, with the strongest followings in Electronic, Stage & Screen, and Rock. Notable users include Ramin Djawadi, Steve Jablonsky, and Paul Haslinger. Most Heavyocity products fall in the mid-tier range — professional-grade without flagship pricing.
