Nakamichi is a Japanese audio equipment brand founded by Etsuro Nakamichi in 1948 as Nakamichi Research Corporation Ltd. in Tokyo. The company built its reputation in the 1970s and 1980s through high-end cassette tape decks, and is credited with producing the world's first three-head cassette deck. Flagship models such as the Dragon, the 1000ZXL, and the 700 series became reference pieces among audiophiles for their precision tape transport, azimuth correction, and measured performance.
