Siemens is a German industrial conglomerate whose pro audio legacy, largely built through its subsidiary Klangfilm and its partnership in Telefunken, produced some of the most revered studio equipment of the mid-20th century. Originally operating as Siemens & Halske, the company manufactured cinema sound systems, broadcast gear, microphones, and rack-mounted amplifier modules used throughout German radio, film, and recording studios from the 1930s into the 1970s.

Among collectors and engineers, Siemens is best known for its modular tube and transistor amplifiers, including the V72 microphone preamplifier (with Siemens becoming a sub-contractor for the design in 1954), the V76 high-gain preamp, and the later solid-state V276 and V276a modules built on the Sitral platform. Siemens also built or rebadged microphones in collaboration with AKG and Neumann, most famously the Siemens/AKG C12 large-diaphragm tube condenser and Siemens-badged variants of the Neumann U47.

Original Siemens modules, mic preamps, EQs, and compressors are highly sought after on the vintage market and have been widely reissued or cloned by boutique manufacturers. The gear is prized for its iron-core transformers, German tube circuitry, and a dense, forward midrange character associated with classic German broadcast and film sound.
