Description
1960's Siemens Sitral recording console with 18 line inputs, 12 preamps, 2 U273 limiter/compressors, direct outs, and fully discrete/balanced circuitry.
The 1960's Siemens Sitral consoles were some of the first discrete transistor consoles manufactured and are closest in sound to the wonderful tube based Siemens/Klangfilm consoles. According to the late engineer and audio historian Oliver Archut, the Beatles used Siemens Sitral A consoles while mixing most of the Beatles films in the 1960's. For comparison, just one V276 preamp in the 1960's cost more than a VW Beetle, and an entire Siemens Sitral console cost more than most houses. As far as build quality, sound quality and craftsmanship the 1960's Siemens consoles are arguably the finest discrete consoles ever manufactured: All the switches are gold plated, all the transformers are custom wound and shielded Haufe transformers, and every single stage of the console is balanced and fully discrete. In the 1950's and 1960's Siemens was to consoles as Neumann was to microphones
