Sound Sculpture Musical Instrument Products is an Oregon-based maker of audio routing and switching systems for electric guitar, founded in 1986 by engineer and guitarist Ken Czepelka. The company is best known for the Switchblade series of MIDI-controlled signal routers, including the rack-mount Switchblade GL and the floor-based Switchblade 8F and 8B, which let players patch effects loops in series, parallel, or hybrid combinations and recall the entire matrix as presets via MIDI program change.
Beyond the Switchblade line, the catalog includes a number of small, purpose-built MIDI utility pedals: the AB Cadabra, a relay-based MIDI A/B/Y switcher and effects loop bypass; the Volcano, an analog volume and clean-boost controller addressable by MIDI or expression pedal; and the FootSim, a MIDI-controlled footswitch jack simulator used to remotely trigger amps and effects that lack their own MIDI input.
The brand has long catered to players building elaborate, programmable rigs, and Switchblade systems have been used by guitarists associated with King Crimson, Steve Vai, and Dave Matthews Band, among others.
