Disclaimer: I did NOT pay full price for this cable! I got it at over 50% off! I'm not sure I would've paid the full $200+ for them, but man, they do have a nice crisp, clear sound. A lot of the rhetoric cable manufacturers use is B.S.; one cable doesn't have better low end than another, for example. It's a simple matter of audio fidelity and build quality, and this one delivers in spades. If you're reading this review, you're likely doing so because you want to know, is this better than Planet Waves or whatever? Yes, it is.
This is the heaviest distortion I've ever owned. With your guitar's volume at half-mast it's still capable of sonic destruction; dime 'er, and it heads into full-fledged apocalypse. The fuzz circuit is the same as the company's flagship Tyrant fuzz, but the second channel adds a new layer of squealing feedback and intensely spacey noise. If you listen to Josh Scogan at all, The Chariot, Norma Jean, that's what this sounds like.
This pedal isn't very user-friendly: no LED, not true bypass, gigantic footprint. But it sounds so damn good, you won't give a shit about any of that, believe me. You can't say you have a complete '70s, classic-rock sound if you don't have some version of the EHX Electric Mistress on your board. You can feel this pedal right in your chest! Whoosh!
Haunting, shimmering, ethereal. The self-oscillation is off the hook. Can be used as an "always-on," light reverb, or as an ambient, aurora-like swell. It has few peers; TC Electronic's Trinity and Strymon's Big Sky are the only serious contenders. Not to be missed. Pair with delay and a volume pedal for a religious experience.
She's really nice. And you should know: the auto tuning works just fine. Anyone who complains about it seriously needs to have their head checked. Lame old guys all.
It doesn't get much better than this. Accept no substitutes! That includes not only that godforsaken "1Spot" thingy but also CIOKS and Walrus Audio. It's a PP2+ or bust.
This is a practice amp, and not much good for anything else, but don't take that the wrong way: the clean tones are superb and bell-like, especially through a good pair of headphones, hunched over it, late at night when everyone else in your house is asleep. It's not an AC15; don't buy it looking for the Vox sound. But it's built like a tank.
For me there was guitar playing before Ditto, and there is guitar playing after Ditto. I can't imagine my setup without it. Get the X2; the dedicated stop switch and the reverse looping features are brilliant. For the vast majority of guitarists, this is more intuitive than a Boss or Digitech, myself included.
You'd have to be crazy not to want this diverse OD pedal on your pedalboard; the range of sounds it can achieve is incredible. This having been said, it may lose out to relative newcomers like the Black Arts Toneworks Black Forest, because it isn't necessarily that original: those looking for a signature tone may want to keep searching. Don't let me land on a sour note, though. This is a legendary pedal.
This is a classic pedal and its tone is incredible: I love launching into a bit of "Me vs. Madonna vs. Elvis" at about 11 o'clock with the depth switch up. This having been said, there are more diverse, and maybe just plain better, pedals out there: the JHS Emperor comes instantly to mind. Of course, that pedal is three times the cost. You pays your money and you takes your choice...
