It never fails to inspire. Even after all these years it's my favorite delay.
I've had the Alter Ego X4, on and off, for over a decade. I'm a gear head, so I've bought and sold 10 - 12 delays in the meantime - Free The Tone, Strymon, Boss, Dunlop, Fractal, SolidGoldFX, DOD... - and though they were all really, really good, every time i plug back in to the Alter Ego I get lost for a few hours. And with access to tc's Toneprint Editor I'm always able to get more than close enough to any delay type I might want. The editor is quite simple to use, too. If you want access to 90% of all delay types without having to own 50 different delays, this might be just the thing!

My favorite delay... ever!
That does sum it up. I love this pedal, and all of it's offerings. My only critique is the size, it's YOOOOGE. However, it's awesome. How so? The modelings are exceptional in my mind. I've love the sounds of the MM4 by Line6, but they break and f-up a lot. The TC folks, have equally nailed the flaws and nuances of the analog devices they are modeling. I've always struggled with using and embracing delays. Not sure why. But this delay is so much fun, it can have a subtle or dramatic affect on your sound, and I haven't even talked about the TonePrint feature. Cos I probably won't use that. The reverse setting is incredible. Looper? Yep! Also increddy!! I got this new, from ProGuitarShop.com for $149.00 shipped. Great deal, not B stock. If searching for an affordable option at delay, look for the TC Electronics delay series; Flashback and there's another in addition to the Alter Ego. These are fantastic delays!!

One of the best Vintage Echo Delay pedals
I’ve had many vintage delays on my board. Most of them sound good when your testing it alone, but when you add drives and put it on high volume, somehow that vintage tone you’re looking for disappears or decreases. But it’s a different story on this pedal, even when you play with a band on a high level, you’ll still get that rich vintage tones and it has many modes and features including the toneprint. Great job by TCE! Taking back those vintage echoes, putting them in one modern pedal.

have you used any of the analog devices it models? I've owned a roland chorus echo and an oil can delay, I wonder how it stacks up in person. Andy's demo sounds good but all his videos sound good....
I use it as an outboard effect on studio recordings and it sounds wonderful
That title says it all, doesn't it?
