Oh yeah those stores definitely have my support. I love talking to the people who work there. It's part of the fun! I may not buy a pricey guitar but like 30 of your squires, used guitars, amps and a truckload of parts through the years.

The rich know the rarity and desirability of certain guitars and probably buy them for investment (like buying famous paintings). It also gives them bragging rights, and adds to their credbility as serious guitar collectors.
If I were rich I would go try out a 59 burst but wouldn't buy it. I would rather give to cancer or parkinsons research.

Oh I forget to mention that I mostly play my guitars clean with only a small amount of overdrive when needed. It's my first semi hollow.

Thanks for the references. I checked Schaller's site and they seem to have the right metric bridge for me Tokai. But I wasnt too sure if I wanted to learn how to file the saddles since they are supplied without grooves ... might screw up an expensive bridge.
What's the advantage of using an aluminium bridge? Are they brighter/ more treble coming through/ greater note definition compared to zinc alloy ones? And are you saying that Callahan makes the brightest sounding one?
My ES-335 clone is kinda muddy and boomy sounding, and I want to try to get more clarity, mids and high frequencies out of it. I've seen videos of Gibson 335s with 57 classic PAFs, and want to get closer to that tone.
Another thing I've learned was to adjust the pickup heights, and also to turn up the vol/ tone pots of the bridge pickup, and fill in the amount of neck vol/ tone I need. Brightened the sound a lot for me.
I guess after the bridge, I will need those Gibson 57 PAFs to see any large improvements...

Thanks for the information! Now at least I kmow where to look. 😊

Ok I scored a used es'335 clone (at least I thought it was a score when I paid up) and when I got home and plugged in I heard buzzing. I raised the bridge, taped the nut, taped the saddles, gave the truss rod half a turn, buzz is still there. I cant figure out if it's the frets or bridge that's buzzing. The previous own rsn really heavy gauge strings do my guess is that the bridge and bone nut are destroyed causing multiple buzz points! Is this making sense? I'm not sure if I should start filing the frets yet.
1) I'm thinking of dropping in a genuine Gibdon abr1 bridge but these do not come with the threaded lugs that are inserted into the guitars body. Are there aftermarket ones I could buy? Or is it impossible to fit a gibson bridge onto a clone?
2) Any recommendations for aftermarket tuneomatic bridge? I dont like the graphtech as the treble is reduced. Has anyone tried Gotoh or something like that? I want tone and sustain.
3) Nut - bone or brass? Any brands in particular?
Going nuts.

Have you ever saved any gears on your Equipboard Wishlist?
Hey thanks!
So after you save it on your Wishlist, what did you do when you want to actually buy any of the items there?
For bulky items, I'll look for used or marked down gear locally (Craigslist, music stores) before considering online stores. If it's just a cable or a tuner, I might just order online since shipping wouldn't cost that much.

The wishlist is like a dream shopping list! I'll go around the internet snooping on other people's rigs and if I find something I like, I just save it in my wishlist. Cos sometimes I forget these names and model numbers. It's really convenient to have them in one place.
(Back in high school my wishlist was on the back of my notebook together with a list of possible band names lol)

Wow I love all the tech you wrote, good stuff thanks! Ok, power conditioner and humx. Stay away from the power capacitors. Gotcha.
I read somewhere that our bodies are actually transferring electrical charges to the guitar strings that causes the buzz/ hum to go away. Something about us being giant antennas picking up all kinds of electromagnetic noise from the surroundings. What do you think about that? It's bizarre right?
5yabout 5 years ago
Thanks for that. I wasnt too sure if that hum was normal. It gets louder after a while, and stays at that volume. I had originally thought that the heated caps in the amp were causing it. Learned something new!

There's continuity from the jack (sleeve) to the toggle switch, each pickup, bridge, tailpiece, back of all 4 pots (connected in a u shape). The tips and sleeves of my cable are good.
But when I plug it into my small marshall MG solid state combo, I get a hum. Its reduced if I touch the strings or any of the grounded parts mentioned above.
I dont get it. Is my guitar picking up more noise from the surroundings than my amp can handle? I moved around my home but the hum level doesn't rise or fall. Do I need a new input socket on my amp, or new resistors/ capacitors?
I hate that hum and I have humbuckers.

I'm glad to know that you are asking questions about ethics. The sad reality is that environmental friendliness and fair wages are not usually details disclosed by budget guitar makers. It's easy to understand why, though a lot of us will just shrug it off. It's up to the workers to call out the manufacturers.

Hello, guys!Help me find information about the Guytone Ga 2200 amps, and where to buy it
Yea I never buy amps new either. Your friend and I should hang out, cruising the streets for trashed amps. The tone vigilantes, doing old gear justice! Yeaaaahhhh

Oh wow. I thought point to point meant eyelets. And I never knew the amp circuits could be boardless as well? I'm definitely gonna google this, in case I stumble upon a vintage at a yard sale. Well, not likely but I'm hopeful ha ha

I just read up on point to point construction and now understand that they're not 'pcbs'. Thanks for that.

It's worse over there the amp yakusa demands entire circuit boards be etched on your back. Lmao.

Kids have their phases. Maybe one day yours will move on to violins, trumpets before settling for guitars in their 30s. Lifes like a box of guitar picks, you never know what you'll get. Lol.

Not sure, but I think a company like Disney would be well aware of copyright infringement issues. Maybe they had a deal with Ibanez on these toy guitars. Them lil shredders will be on this forum in ten years.

Hello. I have the 3 pickup version that is made in China. I'm not sure of the exact model number, as they seem to different in various countries. I like mine very much as it is a lot lighter than a les paul, and you can play standing up for longer. Its tone can be dialed in and made rather warm and mellow to sound like jazz guitars, since the pickups are not too hot. The body is made of a wood called nyato, which is used for furniture in Asia. Maybe that's why it is affordable? But I don't mind. The sustain is good enough for long notes - to me at least.

I think most cats prefer Jaguars. The low friction "scratch plate" takes some getting used to tho.
