It's working now! I'll clean up this page later (add description, more photos, videos, etc.).

Ah! This time we were able to replicate the error perfectly. We may have actually fixed it, please try again š¤

This is exactly what I'm getting too
Nah, Iām only getting to the part where it says āIf you're sure you're adding a unique product, press Next at the bottom.ā
Then I hit next and see the plain old 500 error.
6m6 months ago
Also I've noticed, virtually all of the products added recently (that were not added by an admin or mod) have online purchase links (sweetwater, GC, thomann, etc.). This bug might be affecting more people, not just a few.
6m6 months ago
With any product that I try to add manually, I always get the 500 error. Even with products that are available on sweetwater or guitar center as my little "experiment" proved to me. Never even got to the page where I get to add an image. I don't think it's my IP either as I've tried on both mac and PC, over 2 different ISP's too.
Iāve been trying to add the Clark Gainster, with the simple title āClark Gainsterā and this link here: http://www.clarkamplification.com/gainster.html
Thanks. It's not an issue w the name. I think it's something else.
So, I manage to get to the last part of the process where I have to provide a photo. There, I give it this link:
http://www.clarkamplification.com/images/gainster/1.jpgI try to add the item, and it spits me back on that form with error: Image Zyte download failed: 520 is that what you're seeing as well??

We have 83 different entries for Gibson Les Paul Studio...
And this is why I'm a proponent of expiration dates on submissions. That or add a bump button to submissions!
Also I used to own a 97 USA Lone Star and it was a lemon. The amount of work I put into it just to make it playable. Was able to sell it for some change on reverb though.
I will say I've noticed a similar trend with Lonestar, Lonestar Deluxe and Eric Clapton Stratocasters, but have already submitted a bunch to be merged. Will probably go back over and make sure I didn't miss any.

yep should've said full nitro on the standard!
satin and faded are still nitrocellulose lacquer, the difference is about number of coats, polishing/sanding and clear coating :-)

Gibson is not as bad as Fender as far repackaging the same 70yr old design, but there tends to be not a lot of variance between LP models regardless of how many words they add to the base title. The "Faded" Studio models are mostly satin, though most Les Paul Standard models are nitro. There's enough "Faded" Studio models out there that it probably needs its own page separate from the Les Paul Studio. They're meant to mimic 50's, 60's bursts that aged over time. I forgot to include Faded in my post but I think it's a thing. Before Kirk's Greeny reissues came out, Murphy Lab would take Les Paul USA Standard Faded honey burst's and greenyfy them. Also there's a dedicated Faded page on Gibson's website- https://www.gibson.com/collections/gibson-faded-series-electric-guitars.
I would say anything that doesn't have a Plus, Special, Deluxe, HP, 120th Anniversary in the name, is a regular Gibson Les Paul Studio regardless of birthdate, finish or neck profile. I'll kinda describe each one below:
Plus: This is a Studio with a flame top.
Special: This is a Studio with P90's.
Deluxe: This is a Plus with fancy electronics.
HP: Thin neck, heel contours.
Excellent!
So we'd have:
- Gibson Les Paul Studio: plain vanilla
- Plus: flame top
- Special: P90's
- Deluxe: a Plus with fancy electronics
- HP: Thin neck, heel contours
- Baritone: 28" scale
What are the "T" models from last decade?
Are the "Faded" models just a special paint job?

120th Anniv.: This is unique to the 2014 model. Has a special 12th fret inlay.
Btw, I didn't even know they come in baritone also.
I put the full list there just for dramatic impact. I don't expect anyone to tease through it all.
What I'm looking for is some sign-off from guitarists who care, like you, Jim and others re: a consensus general approach to such things.
I'll kick things off with a rude proposal:
Rather than trying to divide up the different eras of the "vanilla" Les Paul Studio (e.g. '83-'89, '90-'97, etc.), everything sold as "Gibson Les Paul Studio" (not the "plus", "special", "deluxe", "special edition", "T", "HP", etc.) from 1983 onward should be consolidated to the "Gibson Les Paul Studio" entry, and folks can use the new date tag feature to let everyone know whether they have a chunkier 80s model, a weight-reduced 90s model or a wacky robo-tuner model.
That would mean we merge about 13 of those entries above under the very first entry in the list.
...then, after the dust settles on that, we'd see if there are any special edition, "T", "Faded", etc models that are dupes or could be merged, and call it a day.
Am I being too much of a brute to attempt that drastic of a roll-up?

So I did an experiment.
Step 1, I picked a random item on sweetwater. It's this one: Global Truss Clamp Post - 18-inch Post.
I first tried adding it manually using this page: https://equipboard.com/items/new_manual. The resultā¦. still not working for me. It gave me the 500 error.
Then I tried adding it the easy way using this page: https://equipboard.com/items/new, and putting in the sweetwater link. That worked. Here's the new equipboard page: https://equipboard.com/items/global-truss-clamp-post-18-inch-post.
Being able to add gear manually without using a major online retailer link is probably one of the more essential features of this site, considering more and more brands begin to sell direct. Most pedal manufacturers in fact don't have their products listed on sweetwater or GC. Hope you guys get this bug fixed asap.
yep. i've been getting the 500 error since monday night. i've been seeing new items added though.
also, the link to the duplicates page is gone. it used to be in the upper right corner and it's not there anymore. that's actually the first page i check every time i log on.
Ok gotcha, we're looking into the bug. And bringing back the link to the duplicate queue.

Mine happens before that. It happens after the 2nd "Next" button. I think that screenshot you shared is what I'm supposed to get after hitting the Next button but I get the 500 error page instead.
Hmm strange. I was able to get to the final part of the gear add process, where all that's left is to upload an image. Were you able to get to here? Does your error happen before this, or after?

I was trying to add guitars produced by Provision.
In the Product Name field, I typed in Provision KARAKUSA Series Guitar
In the Product Link field, I used this: http://provisionguitar.com/?cat=12. Sometimes I would use a Reverb link instead.
I hit Next and another Next, then it gives me this message every time:
"Ugh. 500 error. Something brokeāwe'll fix it and have things back to normal soon."
Probably been going on for a couple days now. Note that Provision the brand is already on here. I was able to add that.
Can you tell me what exactly isn't working? And we will look into it. We recently updated and overhauled this process but there may be some bugs to work out. It would be helpful to know exactly what error you're encountering, and if possible how I can replicate the error.
7m7 months ago
Is this page, https://equipboard.com/items/new_manual, still working? It is not working for me. Trying to add some MIJ guitars & basses that's not on any of the listed retailers here. There is a ton of documentation though (i.e. photos, videos, and reverb/ebay listings etc.) for the stuff I'm trying to add.

Behringer Centaur, Centara, or Zentara
No real revisions, just rebranding. I know we have some limited editions on here that are mere paint jobs, but I think these options could be added just like we added paint colors to guitars recently.
same pedal then
it is the same pedal. same case shape, same knobs, same innards, same color, same price, same everything except for the name and the horse graphic which they had to update because of a trademark infringement lawsuit from klon.
7m7 months ago
Behringer Centaur, Centara, or Zentara
Updating the name makes the most sense to me. We should just note in the description that it was called something else before. I mean it's the same pedal regardless of what its called. The shape didn't even change. I've been doing the same with the Japanese guitar models that I've been adding-- noting in the description prior model names. And when someone adds a Centaur, or Centara, we'll catch it and submit it as a dupe.
It's kinda stupid that some are listing their Behringer "Centaurs" for more on reverb.
Now on its third name, should the original Centaur version be marked as discontinued, or should it simply be updated to reflect the name Centara, or Zentara? Or could all three alternate product names be added, instead of making it one long name?

The Harvey Milk one is interesting because they are also listed here as a band. I tried adding Tricot as a band but it wouldn't let me.

Someone entered Band as an Artist
Is it possible for Admin to delete the Artist "Tricot" so I or someone else can add Tricot as band? That page is all screwed up now because people have been submitting gear to it-- guitar, bass, etc. I think we should just delete it and start over. I caught this when I couldn't associate the guitarist (one that I just added - Kida Motifour) to her own band Tricot. I couldn't figure out why then I noticed there's gear listed in the band page which shouldn't be possible.
Here's the artist page: https://equipboard.com/pros/tricot

I moved all the Xotic pedals from "Xotic Effects" to "Xotic". Xotic is the true name of the company. The reason I did this is because I want to reconcile all their products into one brand or page. They manufacture guitars, basses, parts (under Raw Vintage), in addition to effects pedals.
Can admin delete Xotic Effects and add socials to the new Xotic page? We plebs aren't allowed to add socials to brands.

i didn't know there was a locked partscaster page. i'll use that page to purge some of the redundant partscaster pages on here.
7m7 months ago
not related but kinda related, can you delete and resubmit this so it gets bumped up: https://equipboard.com/duplicate_items/7670. PRS is getting close to getting cleaned up. there seriously should be an expiration date on submissions. i proposed a 2month expiration for duplicate submissions in the suggestions thread and they said they might implement it.

I created "Tom Anderson Guitarworks" without realizing "Anderson Guitarworks" already existed on here, my bad. In my defense, searching Tom Anderson yields nothing and the site won't allow me to add "Tom Anderson." Technically Anderson Guitarworks is the name of the company but EVERYBODY knows the brand by "Tom Anderson." The brand is Tom Anderson, the company is Anderson Guitarworks. Guitar Center, Eddie's Guitar, Brian's Guitars, ALL their major dealers list them as Tom Anderson Guitars. Even the Wikipedia entry is called Tom Anderson Guitarworks. The company logo is Tom Anderson Guitarworks. I bought a Tom Anderson Angel guitar years ago and the receipt said Tom Anderson.
For reference: The Official Tom Anderson Facebook
Can I transfer over the "Anderson Guitarworks" guitars to "Tom Anderson Guitarworks?" Even better if anyone with admin powers add "Tom Anderson" as a guitar brand. If I were to sell my Tom Anderson Angel (I already did) I will list it as Tom Anderson Angel on Reverb or Marketplace because no one will find it without the Tom.
Adding Tom in the title will make them more searchable too. I was about to add a Tom Anderson Classic but saw that it's already listed on here as Anderson Guitarworks Classic. Literally no one knows what an Anderson Guitarworks Classic is. Maybe I should edit every "Anderson Guitarworks" that's already on here and insert "Tom" in the title. It'll work but it'll also look like a mess. I tried doing it and it automatically doubled the Anderson and there was nothing I could do about that.

I think the title of this page needs to be changed to "PRS Santana SE." The purchase links are of the SE version of the guitar. Also the main photo is of an SE. The site not letting me edit the page maybe because it's the main page for the Santana SE.
Or if this is the main page for the Core version of the PRS Santana, then the photo needs to be changed to the Core and the purchase links changed to the core version too.

obvious that someone owns this guitar but it is not on anyone's setup. should we keep or delete?

Equipboard Improvement and Idea Thread - August 2025 Edition
I would say most finishes are dupes, or at the minimum solid colors are. Bursts I would say are dupes of most other finishes too and vice versa.
I was kinda thinking about this as I was submitting PRS duplicates this morning. As for Wood figuring, it depends. A 10-Top PRS in my eyes should have its own page separate from a non 10-Top solely because PRS upcharges almost a grand on 10-Tops. On the flip side, for Gibson Les Pauls, figuring doesn't matter as much because Gibson doesn't differentiate between AAA and AA flame in their naming convention.

Equipboard Improvement and Idea Thread - August 2025 Edition
I propose an expiration date for the "Duplicate Items" submissions. I noticed some of them have been sitting there for years.
Sometimes I'll find something to submit then I'll find that it's been submitted years ago and there's no way to bump it up. I propose a 2 month maximum in the queue, then any submission that goes over gets automatically deleted. Having submissions expire is also a good way of uncluttering the Duplicate Items page.
Option B would be a bump button, but limit its use (per account) to once a week or something like that.

Favorite Music Related YouTube Channels
Youtube has become unwatchable to me. Almost any video that is more than 12mins in length gets hit with a 55sec ad. It really takes you out. Anyway one of the few music / gear related channels that I sometimes watch is five watt world and David Bennet. I actually prefer Beato's 2nd channel over his primary one. The more interesting interviews to me are uploaded to his 2nd channel. As for guitar / gear channels, most are unwatchable. Some of them can barely play.

Another Brand Problem is coming up Fujigen Gakki (FGN)
It's FGN. That's Fujigen's house brand. FujiGen Gakki just means "FujiGen Instruments" and we all know they primarily do high-end OEM. You will never see "FujiGen" on any headstock ever. I wouldn't even bother associating FGN with FujiGen tbh.
History is a store brand in Japan. The name of the store happens to be Shimamura. I bought a History Les Paul copy when I was in Japan. They are produced in the Fujigen factory- the same factory that produces Ibanez's Prestige line and early Fenders. A Fujigen built Ibanez is still an Ibanez just like a History is a History. That one "FGN Shimamura History" bass that was just added should be assigned to History. I'll add the brand if no one else has done it yet.
EDIT: from Shimamura's website: https://www.shimamura.co.jp/originalbrand/pdf/index.html
EDIT: I added History here https://equipboard.com/brands/history. Kinda screwed up on the image. I don't know how to edit photos

Coud you help me with the correct Type of my Squier P-Bass?
Unless that's a Made in Japan Squier, it is more likely the black hardware is not original to that guitar. Fender Japan puts out blacked-out basses all the time but they stopped making Squier's in the 80's. Just tag "Squier Precision Bass" for now, https://equipboard.com/items/squier-precision-bass.

Kramer Pacer Deluxe please remove purchase links
Fyi, I was able to replace the main photo (the site wouldn't let me initially). There are no available "stock" photos except for one low res one that was of a screenshot of a magazine page. The best photo online believe it or not is one that I took of mine. That's the photo I used. I still want pics #2, 3, 4 removed because those are of the wrong guitar. I want the buy links removed too because again, those are of the wrong guitar.

Kramer Pacer Deluxe please remove purchase links
I hope I don't get in trouble too. I've been cleaning up brands or specific models that I like (and own). What I did was create a "dump" page that I can throw duplicate items in so they don't clutter the searches. Here is the page I created: https://equipboard.com/brands/duplicate. Take Music Man Axis as an example. There are multiple pages of the same model and it's annoying. I'm also guilty of creating new pages but I didn't know better then. Another example is the search results for "Fender Super Reverb." There are literally 20 pages of the same amp. There should only be two, max three.

Kramer Pacer Deluxe please remove purchase links
Yeah I saw that one too. I'll use that one and the ones I linked. The 84-86 ones had the beak headstock while the 86-87 had the pointy one (the better one if you ask me). I might also rename the page to "Vintage 80's Kramer Pacer Deluxe" to cover both beak and pointy headstock eras. Fyi, both era Pacers are made by ESP. You can probably count in your hands the true American made Kramers. "Good era" Kramers are made in Japan by ESP. The Nepture NJ USA neckplates don't really mean anything. Japanese and Korean made Kramers had those USA neckplates on every build.

Kramer Pacer Deluxe please remove purchase links
Can someone with admin powers remove the "Pricing and Availability" links from the Kramer Pacer Deluxe page? The sweetwater / guitar center etc. purchase links are for the Gibson reissues. This page is for the original 1985-1987 Kramer Pacer Deluxe. When the links are removed, the site might allow me to create a new page for the 1987 Kramer Pacer Deluxe Reissue. Right now it won't let me because it thinks the page exists.
Also I would like to be able to replace the main pic. There are no available "stock" photos of the original Kramer but the out in the wild photos that I found here, https://totallyradguitars.com/1986-kramer-pacer-deluxe-e6627, are as good and professional as it gets. The stock pics that are assigned to it right now are the wrong ones and I would like for those to be removed.
