Introducing Amdusias – The Dark Duke. I picked this up used for $250, and it's perfect for my needs, which is basically re-learning my chords and dick around with sounds, and just get a better understanding of the guitar, since I mainly write about music. I learned that mine does not include the Kill-Pot, which was introduced in the 2013 models, so no strobe effect for me. The Studio version does not feel any lighter than the other Les Paul's I tried out, but that's okay, as most of the time I'll just be sitting in my DOOM lair. My choice for first practice amp was a no-brainer. Well, I was tempted by the Tiny Terror or Micro Dark, but it made more sense for me to have this handy combo. I'm not disappointed, the dirty gain gives me just enough fuzz to tie me over until I dive down into the pedal/fuzz box rabbithole. The headphone jack sounds great through my beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro for late-night practice sessions. I have not had the occasion to use the effects loop yet, but it's comforting that's there, waiting.
